Job description

Instapro Group is looking for a Backend Engineer to join our Internal Enterprise Applications team focusing on developing the integrations between our core platform and the Salesforce platform, which is used by our Customer Support teams in their daily activities.

Team & Technology

You will be working closely with Salesforce Developers and Administrators, as well as a dedicated Product Manager to deliver the team objectives. As the functionality to be developed touches different domains of the core platform, the role will allow you to collaborate with engineers from multiple teams in the organisation.

You will also be a part of the backend guild with other backend engineers across the company. Through that guild, you will help to ensure the high quality of the software by introducing new technologies, improving and setting quality standards, exchanging experience, and taking on more extensive cross-teams backend initiatives.

Our backend stack consists of PHP 8.3, Symfony 6.4, MySQL 8, RabbitMQ, Redis, GraphQL, Docker and Kubernetes, all running on AWS. Furthermore, our main applications are integrated with Salesforce which forms the backbone of our internal enterprise application stack.

We keep a close eye on quality and make sure we test everything in an automated way with tools like PHPUnit, PHPStan, Phan, Cypress and Jest, all integrated into GitLab CI/CD pipelines.

Your role includes the following:

  • Collaborate effectively with the team, as well as outside the team, to deliver high-quality solutions for our users

  • Contribute to, maintain, and adhere to the company development quality standards and best practices with other backend developers

  • Be a present voice during product and technical discussions

  • Understand data and context that drive decisions

  • Be proactive in suggesting ideas, solutions, improvements, and offering help

  • Bring your opinion to the table and be respectful to others while engaging in productive discussions

  • Share your knowledge and experience with others and help them grow

Job requirements

  • Demonstrable experience developing web applications with PHP/Symfony

  • Knowledge of software design principles and backend application architecture

  • Experience with test automation tools and frameworks

  • Good communication skills and a collaborative & emphatic mindset

  • Exposure to agile and lean development processes as part of a cross-functional team

  • Nice to have: experience with GraphQL, CI/CD pipelines (particularly GitLab) and AWS, interest in Salesforce

What does an interviewing process generally look like?

Our interviewing processes can differ slightly depending on the department. The three steps that are consistent for every vacancy are a talk with the hiring manager at the beginning, a team interview in the middle, and an elevator interview at a later phase of the process. The best way to prepare for an elevator interview is to go over our values.
