We’re looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to join our Payments team; someone who has had years of experience with PHP, has seen its evolution, and understands not just how to code but how to build and architect systems using it.

Payments team

You will become a part of our Payments team, exploring new opportunities through providing a smooth & secure 'modern' user experience which allows Instapro to easily collect money that is due for our services. The Payments team’s mission is to Increase paid rate and customer retention by optimizing, simplifying and automating our processes and flows. Improve accounting reliability and increase internal efficiency.

You will also be a part of a backend guild with other backend engineers across the company. Through that guild, you will help to ensure the high quality of the software by introducing new technologies, improving and setting quality standards, exchanging experience, and taking on more extensive cross-team backend initiatives.

Technology

Our focus is to produce high-quality, working, and tested code that not only keeps us happy and productive but also helps the business to succeed. Our development process has been honed through exploring various flavors of agile and we believe that our way of working helps us get the right things done at the right time.

Our core marketplace backend stack consists of PHP 8.3, Symfony 6.4, MySQL 8, RabbitMQ, Redis, GraphQL, Docker and Kubernetes, all running on AWS.

Our frontend stack consists of ReactJS, NextJS, ExpressJS, Apollo Client, CSS-in-JS, GraphQL, Webpack, Docker, and Kubernetes.

The payments team also works with Serverless, Aurora Postgres and Eventbridge with specific services. The team is also responsible for their own service infrastructure.

We keep a close eye on quality and make sure we test everything in an automated way with tools like PHPUnit, PHPStan, Phan, Cypress and Jest, all integrated into GitLab CI/CD pipelines.

Your role includes the following:

  • Collaborate effectively with the team to deliver high-quality solutions for our users

  • Contribute to, maintain, and adhere to frontend and backend development quality standards and best practices with other developers

  • Be proactive in suggesting ideas, solutions, and improvements during product and technical discussions

  • Bring your opinions to the table and be respectful to others while engaging in productive conversations

  • Guide and support other engineers in their growth

  • Share your knowledge and experience with others and help them grow

Job requirements

  • 5+ years of experience developing web applications with PHP

  • Mastery of software design principles and back-end application architecture, with the knowledge of applying them in practice (preferably experience with Layered Architecture and Domain Driven Design)

  • Experience with test automation tools and frameworks

  • Experience with working as part of a cross-functional team

  • Good communication skills and a collaborative & emphatic mindset

  • Nice to have: experience with GraphQL, and CI/CD pipelines (particularly GitLab) and AWS.

What is our working model?

You need to be based in one of our office locations or be willing to relocate to one of them.

We have a hybrid-work model, which means that it’s up to you whether you prefer to work onsite or feel more comfortable working from home.
